Turkey Chili

One of my son's all time favorite meals is this chili. If it is not on the regular dinner rotation, he starts asking for it... insisting on it. He even went so far as to say he wanted a bowl of chili for breakfast the other day. I guess there are worse things to crave!

This chili is incredibly simple to make and I make it so often, I can make it without a recipe these days. To start, brown your ground beef in a Dutch onion. Then add your onion and red pepper and cook until the veggies have softened.

Next add in the chili powder and cumin. If you want an extra kick you can add red pepper flakes to this. I skip it for my kids, but feel free to add them if you like a little extra heat.

After that, you want to add all of your tomato products and simmer for one hour. As you can see by the cans below, this chili relies heavily on canned products, which is part of the reason this is so easy. I was making a double batch this day, so don't let the number of cans intimidate you.

While the chili was cooking, I prepped my favorite toppings. I usually go with whatever I have on hand. Tonight it happened to be cheese, green onion and cilantro.

Once the chili has simmered for an hour, add the beans and cook until it is warmed through. It is then ready to serve up in bowls@
